Believe For It

Ashley Luther

What do you do when everything you love is suddenly hanging in the balance?

When Steve Luther was hospitalized with COVID-19, his wife, Ashley, believed they were facing a difficult illness. She could never have imagined the journey ahead: months on a ventilator, collapsed lungs, heart and kidney failure, sepsis, transfusions, and eventually the devastating news that the man she loved had been declared brain-dead.

Through months of uncertainty, Ashley lived somewhere between fear and faith, learning to take life five minutes at a time. As Steve's condition grew increasingly impossible, thousands of people prayed. Friends became family. Strangers became intercessors. A little sparrow sheltering from a storm became a reminder that God was near. And in the moment Ashley finally surrendered the person she loved most, she discovered a peace she couldn't explain.

Then the impossible began to happen.

Believe For It is more than the story of Steve's miraculous survival. It's the story of what God can do in us while we're waiting for the miracle we're asking Him to do around us.

Through Ashley's deeply personal account, readers are invited into the hospital rooms, the parking-garage prayer vigil, moments of surrender, unexpected signs of hope, and ordinary places where God's presence became impossible to overlook.

It's a story about prayer, community, gratitude, surrender, and believing God is still working when circumstances tell you otherwise. But most of all, it's an invitation to look differently at your own life: to recognize that God may be present in places you've overlooked, working through people you never expected, and using even your hardest seasons for purposes you cannot yet see.

You don't need a miracle as dramatic as Steve's to encounter the God of miracles. Sometimes you simply need to start looking.

God is present. God is working. Don't miss it.

Reasons to Praise

Steve Luther

What if the reasons to praise God have been in front of you all along?

In 2021, Steve Luther spent thirty-six days in a hospital bed fighting for his life. Then, for four days, he was gone. Declared brain dead at the brain stem level, his family gathered, thousands prayed, and his wife prepared for the possibility that he would never wake again. On the fortieth day, he did.

But Reasons to Praise isn't simply the story of a man who survived. It's about what Steve began to see afterward.

As he recovered, he found himself asking why a story like his wasn't national news. Then he began looking around and realized something that changed the way he saw life: extraordinary things are happening all around us every day. Miracles. Grace. Provision. Beauty. People showing up at exactly the right time. Ordinary moments we experience so often that we've stopped recognizing them as gifts.

Maybe miracles aren't as rare as we think. Maybe our attention is.

Reasons to Praise: 40 Days to Rediscover God's Goodness in Every Season is an invitation to pay attention again.

Through forty days of Scripture, honest reflection, personal stories, prayer, and practical opportunities to notice God's goodness, Steve explores what it means to praise God not only when life is going well, but when it isn't. He writes candidly about fear, suffering, unanswered prayer, surrender, gratitude, forgiveness, purpose, grief, healing, and the questions that don't always come with easy answers.

This isn't a book about pretending everything is good. It's about discovering that God is still good when everything isn't.

The forty days carry special meaning. Steve woke from brain death on his fortieth day in the hospital. Those forty days transformed his life. They also transformed his wife Ashley as she walked through her own journey of faith and surrender, told in Believe For It. Now Steve invites you into forty days of your own.

Your story will be different. Your circumstances will be different. And what God does in these forty days may be different too.

But whether you're walking through a difficult season, rediscovering your faith, searching for hope, or simply realizing you've been moving too quickly to notice what God is doing right in front of you, Reasons to Praise offers one simple invitation:

Slow down. Look around. Pay attention.

There is still beauty. There is still grace. There is still hope. There are still reasons to praise.

Don't miss them.

Believe. Surrender. Praise.

Every story we tell is an invitation to slow down and look again. God is already at work in your ordinary day. We just don't want you to miss it.

Maybe miracles aren't as rare as we think. Maybe our attention is.

In 2021, Steve was hospitalized with COVID-19. On his thirty-sixth day in the hospital he was declared brain dead. Thousands of people prayed. Ashley learned to take life five minutes at a time, and a little sparrow sheltering from a storm became a reminder that God was near. On day forty, Steve began showing signs of recovery.

That was the turning point, not the finish line. Steve spent four and a half months in the hospital, followed by a year of recovery spent rebuilding his strength, his mobility, and his ability to breathe. Somewhere along that long road, we both started seeing ordinary days differently.

Don't Miss It Media is how we're sharing what we saw: Ashley's story of faith and surrender in Believe For It, and Steve's forty-day devotional, Reasons to Praise. Our hope is that it grows into a place where many people share where they've seen God show up.

Ashley Luther

Ashley Luther is a wife, mother, entrepreneur, and author whose faith was tested in the most uncertain season of her life, and who learned that God is closest in the places we least expect to find Him.

In 2021, when Steve was hospitalized with COVID pneumonia, Ashley believed they were facing a difficult illness. Instead, she spent the weeks that followed living between fear and faith as his condition grew more impossible: a ventilator, collapsed lungs, heart and kidney failure, sepsis, transfusions, and finally the news that he had been declared brain-dead.

While Steve fought for his life inside the hospital, Ashley carried everything outside it. She learned to take life five minutes at a time. She watched friends become family and strangers become intercessors, gathered with others for prayer in a hospital parking garage, and found an unlikely reminder of God's nearness in a little sparrow sheltering from a storm.

And in the moment she finally surrendered the person she loved most, she discovered a peace she couldn't explain.

Then the impossible began to happen.

Steve's recovery stretched across four and a half months in the hospital and a year of rebuilding at home, and Ashley walked every step of it beside him.

That journey became Believe For It, Ashley's account of faith, fear, surrender, and what God can do in us while we're waiting for the miracle we're asking Him to do around us.

Ashley doesn't write as someone who had all the answers. She writes as someone who had to decide, again and again, whether she would believe God was still working when every report said otherwise.

Since Steve's recovery, Ashley has shared their story with many people and has prayed with countless others walking through similar struggles, often reminding them that God is still at work in the waiting.

Today, Ashley is the COO | Managing Broker of CHORD Real Estate in Nashville, Tennessee, which she leads alongside Steve, business partner Van Hohe, and their team. Before real estate, she served as assistant director of a private preschool. Her background is in international studies, and she speaks fluent Japanese after living in Japan for nearly four years during college.

Ashley and Steve have been married since 2012 and share a blended family with their three sons, Jacob, Tylar, and Ken. They live in Gallatin, Tennessee, just outside Nashville, and attend NorthField Church. Steve tells his side of the story in Reasons to Praise, his forty-day devotional on rediscovering God's goodness in every season.

Her hope for every reader is simple: that you'll start looking for God in your own life, and find that He has been there all along.

God is present. God is working. Don't miss it.

Steve Luther

Steve Luther is a husband, father, entrepreneur, real estate broker, and survivor whose extraordinary journey through a life-threatening battle with COVID-19 profoundly changed the way he sees faith, gratitude, and the gift of an ordinary day.

Read Steve's bio

In 2021, Steve entered the hospital with COVID pneumonia. What followed became a months-long fight for his life that included respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation, heart and kidney failure, sepsis, multiple blood transfusions, and a devastating prognosis. Thirty-six days after entering the hospital, Steve was declared brain-dead at the stem level. Four days later, on day forty, he began showing signs of recovery.

His journey back was only beginning.

After months in the hospital and an extensive recovery that required him to rebuild his strength, mobility, and ability to breathe normally, Steve returned to the life he had once feared he might never experience again. But he didn't return to it quite the same.

During the darkest moments of his illness, when the outcome was completely beyond his control, Steve found peace through prayer, praise, gratitude, and ultimately surrendering his life to God's will. The experience awakened in him a deeper awareness of something that had always been true but was too easy to overlook in the busyness of everyday life:

God's goodness is everywhere when we take the time to notice it.

That realization became the foundation for Reasons to Praise: 40 Days to Rediscover God's Goodness in Every Season.

Steve doesn't write as a pastor or theologian. He writes as someone who knows what it feels like to be afraid, to wrestle with questions, to get distracted by things that seem important, to fall short, and to need the same reminders he shares throughout these pages. He also writes as someone who was given an unexpected opportunity to see life again with fresh eyes.

Today, Steve is the Principal | Chief Strategist & Advisor of CHORD Real Estate in Nashville, Tennessee, a company he leads alongside his wife, Ashley, business partner Van Hohe, and their team. Before entering real estate, he spent a decade in corporate information technology, and throughout his career he has remained an entrepreneur at heart.

But the titles that matter most to him are much simpler:

Husband. Dad. Child of God.

Steve and Ashley have been married since 2012 and share a blended family with their three sons, Jacob, Tylar, and Ken. They live in Gallatin, Tennessee, just outside Nashville, and attend NorthField Church. Their family's experience during Steve's illness is also told from Ashley's perspective in Believe For It, her account of faith, fear, surrender, and what happened outside the hospital walls while Steve fought for his life inside them.

Since his recovery, Steve has shared his story with countless people, always returning to the same message: miracles aren't confined to hospital rooms or dramatic moments. They are happening around us every day. Sometimes we're simply moving too quickly to recognize them.

Reasons to Praise is Steve's invitation to slow down. To notice. To remember. To give thanks. And to discover that no matter what season you're walking through, there is always a reason to praise.
